Thanet GhostWatch Walkabout Report Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens
Kearsney Abbey, Mill ruins - Photo: Bob.Written by Bob. Saturday 4th June, 2011. Group: Sue, Sarah, Bob and Keef. 15:20 Arrived at Kearsney Abbey. 15:45 In the area of the ice-house, Sue was beginning to sense things. We moved across the road and into Russell Gardens. 16:20 In the Walled Garden, an EVP session was commenced but later examination of this recording revealed nothing unusual. A few minutes after this, both Bob and Sue heard a couple of distinct footsteps. 16:25 Sarah remarked that this area didn't feel right, there was something wrong but she couldn't be specific. Sue had a feeling, although uncertain, that this area had been used in the past for a military purpose. After a break for refreshments we returned to Kearsney Abbey. 18:07 At the end of the far lake, Sue sensed that a particular area of the bank might have had a religious significance. 18:14 On
the way to the ruins of the mill, Sue picked-up on a male in a green
uniform and peaked-cap. She suspected he was either a soldier or a
park-keeper and, although she had only just 'seen' him, she suspected
he had been following us for some time. At the mill ruins an EVP session was commenced but later examination of this recording revealed nothing unusual. During this, Sue got the name of "Harold". 19:01 We
moved location to the other side of the estate and into the large
wooded area, where Sue and Bob kept catching glimpses of what looked
like figures moving between the trees. 19:07 As
we left the woods, Sue caught several strong wafts of a perfume-type
odour. Bob, who had been next to her at the time, didn't detect it. An EVP session was commenced but later examination of this recording revealed nothing unusual. At the start of this, Sue detected another strong waft of this perfume but Bob didn't. We checked the nearby vegetation but could find nothing capable of producing such an odour. 19:21 Sue asked-out and immediately smelt the odour but no one else did. 19:28 Sue asked again and, as she did so, she smelt the odour. Keef and Bob, who had been stood either side of her, did not. Sue remarked that this odour seemed to be evident to her each time she began asking-out. Sue compared the odour to that of Lavender. 19:33 As Sue asked-out, Bob caught a faint smell of this odour. 19:36 Sue asked again, this time Keef detected a strong waft of this odour. 19:39 We moved back into the woods before returning to the far lake. 20:20 At
the end of the far lake, on the side nearest the road, Sue
picked-up on a person who probably had religious connection but she
couldn't be any more specific. 20:36 As we moved towards the mill ruins, Sue had remained behind where she heard several footsteps. 20:44 Bob, who was alone on the banks of the mill ruins, heard several footsteps which seemed close by. 20:48 Sue
was now certain that the man in the green uniform had been a soldier,
he had lived nearby and had been killed in battle elsewhere. (initial research after the investigation, indicated the property had been commandeered by the War Department during WWII). 21:04 We felt drawn to an area next to the boundary wall. Once in this area, Sarah felt sick and Sue got a pain in her side, she suspected someone had died here. 21:08 An EVP session was commenced but later examination of this recording revealed nothing unusual. 21:11 Sarah got the year of "1953" and suspected there may have been a murder here. Sue suspected likewise. (initial research after the investigation, indicated the majority of the main house had been demolished in 1959). 21:16 As an experiment, we left this area and the feeling of oppressiveness dissipated. We returned and the oppressiveness returned. 21:18 Sue wasn't sure if she was sensing horses in this area or if she had been influenced by an earlier discussion. 21:20 Sue's Pendulum appeared to indicate Spirit was present. 21:30 End of Walkabout.
