Walkabout Report
Palm Bay

Written by Bob.
Sunday 27th April, 2008.
Group: Sarah, Bob, Sue, Dawn,
Anne and Phil.
We deliberately chose this
date for a return visit as it was the anniversary of the American
bomber crash which occurred at around dusk in 1944.

We walked down the slope and onto the promenade
at the far end (Margate side) of Palm Bay.
Sarah and Sue now both had headaches and pressure on their shoulders.
As we made our way towards Foreness Point, Sue felt this particular
area to be very oppressive.
Dawn got a pain in her left arm followed by a pain in the top of her
leg and then a headache but all these sensations dissipated shortly
before arriving at the clubhouse building.
By the time we reached Foreness
Point, dusk was falling.
We waited here for it to become dark before setting off on the return
trip, shortly afterwards we were joined by Phil.

Sue asked-out and a whistle was heard but
this was not thought to be of paranormal origin.
21:19
Shortly after passing the clubhouse, Sue
and Dawn got the feeling they were being followed but, on investigation,
there was no physical person behind them.
21:23
Sue heard a couple of dragging noises on
the cliff-face, approximately halfway up. She asked-out and saw a
yellow light in the same area from which these sounds had emanated.
Sue and Dawn were convinced they were being followed. Dawn sensed
it was a male in his 30's and Sue agreed by stating he was in his
early 30's.
Up until we were joined by
Phil, we believed the aircraft impact site was at Foreness Point but
Phil, who had researched the crash, pointed out the actual spot which
is where the cliff curves inwards - approximately halfway between
the clubhouse and the Margate end of the promenade. This was the very
area which some of the group, on this and the previous walkabout,
had described as being very oppressive.
Stood directly below the impact
site, Sue got the name "Mark" and Dawn picked-up on an unusual
sounding surname but she couldn't be specific. Sue thought it was
possibly a Jewish surname beginning with an "S" - similar
to Solomon.
Dawn sensed another male with the surname of "Daniels" and
a Christian name of "Jack" but she didn't feel these names
belonged to the same person.
21:43
Sarah picked-up on "Sherpa" possibly
relating to a person who carries things.
Phil pointed out it could be a military nickname for a bomber aircraft
as they carry bombs.
We then made our way back up
the slope, at the Margate end of the bay, and walked back along the
cliff-top until we were above the impact site - nothing to report.
22:15
Walkabout ended.
Although we didn't witness
any obvious paranormal "replay" of the aircraft crash, an
interesting article came to light the following week in a local newspaper.
During the time we had been at Palm Bay, a Margate resident had reported
seeing a bright light in the sky which changed shape before moving
off at speed. Half an hour later, he heard what sounded like a four-propellor
aircraft circling the area - could these occurrences have been related
to what we had been investigating or was this just a coincidence?
