Introduction
Thanet GhostWatch Property Investigation
would like to offer our sincere thanks to Sandwich Town Council for
consenting to this investigation and a special thanks to Kevin, the
Town Sergeant, for looking after us on the night.
For the purposes of our investigation
we mainly confined ourselves to the original section of the structure
which was built in 1579 and contains the Courtroom.
In the past, this Court's jurisdiction also covered the Thanet area
and it was here that Adam Sprackling stood trial for the murder of
his wife (1652) in their house which once stood in the grounds of
what is today Ellington Park, Ramsgate. Having been found guilty,
he was hanged at Sandwich's Gallows Field.
Note: abbreviations
