Sue's thoughts on the table-tipping
My first thought was that there had to be
human intervention, I have been on many investigations and that is
the first time anything as strong as that has happened and gone on
happening.
Needless to say, it was so unexpected that nobody had really time
to think about what was happening, we were just going with it.
In the cold light of the next two days I deliberated over it quite
a lot, I nearly convinced myself that there was human intervention,
people getting carried away with the moment and unconsciously pushing
the table. Except for a nagging feeling that I knew I was watching
everybody's hands after the unexpected initial happening, plus on
one or two instances during the proceedings I felt that no hands was
actually on that table.
Of course this is not proof, even with a dozen independent witnesses
it would not be proof, everybody will make their own minds up. But
after watching the video footage and taking into account what was
happening before the event took place and my feelings at the time
and pointers that Keith brought up, I think that there is a positive
possibility that the table could have been moving of its own volition
and definitely needs further scrutiny.
Conclusions
From a Believer's perspective, the evidence
gathered overwhelmingly confirmed there was paranormal activity. Of
the presences detected, most appeared to be benevolent with only one
coming across as slightly grumpy.
After the unexpected results of the table-tipping, many feel this
is perhaps the "most active" venue we have investigated
to-date.
Sceptical Analysis by Bob
Ignoring what was sensed, as sceptics do,
we are still left with a variety of interesting occurrences but not
necessarily paranormal.
The various light anomalies that were captured on photo and video
do not necessarily indicate any paranormal activity as dust, small
insects or other airborne particulates could equally, and more likely,
have been responsible.
The variations in temperature were most probably natural, originating
from various vents and gaps around doors, on what was a windy night
and with the theatre in such an exposed location.
Various 'strange noises' could also have had a multitude of natural
origins, including the wind, sea, street noise and "building
noise".
All in all, there did not appear to be any irrefutable evidence of
any paranormal activity on the night.
Bob's analysis of the table-tipping
As I was not present for most of the table-tipping,
I have had to scrutinise the videos and have spent many hours analysing
both sets from two cameras.
The vibration and tipping of the table, on various occasions, I'm
going to ignore as even the slightest unintentional pressure of many
hands on the table, stood on an uneven floor, could have been responsible.
The apparent 'paranormal' movements of the table across the floor,
over large distances, are on the face of it very impressive, this
is the first time anything so spectacular has ever happened, so this
is far from a regular occurrence on our investigations.
Using video-manipulation software
I was able to examine what had occurred in more detail, having the
ability to zoom in on hands and arms, slow down the playback, freeze-frame
and watch frame by frame.
Apart from on three very brief occasions, I could see nothing that
could be interpreted as deliberate pressure being applied to the table.
If indeed pressure was being applied on these three other occasions,
given the weight of the table, I very much doubt a single person could
have subconsciously or deliberately moved the table, of such weight,
with such force and varying direction (only on one of these three
occasions did the table move any considerable distance).
Even if one errs on the side of caution and ignores all three of these
'possibly suspect' movements of the table, these were in a minority
and there were still many more times when the table moved across the
floor when I could see no obvious force being applied. Indeed, various
times the table seemed to move and catch all those around it unaware.
On several occasions it was stated
that the table was moving when no hands were actually in contact.
Unfortunately, from the camera angles and the briefness of each of
these events, these claims are impossible to verify or to provide
video evidence for.
In conclusion, based solely
on what I have seen, I can say that in my opinion the majority of
the table movements across the floor did not seem to be caused by
any subconscious or deliberate acts of those around it, although there
will always be an element of doubt as it is impossible to prove conclusively
one way or the other.
For any subsequent investigation at this location, there are controls,
in the form of a piece of equipment, that can be introduced to table-tipping
in an attempt to reduce and even remove these doubts - a piece of
equipment which I now feel is worth investing in.
