Monday 27th April, 2009.

Group: Sarah, Sue, Bob, Paul, Claire, Martin, Jake and Phil.

We deliberately chose this date for a return visit as it was the anniversary of the American bomber crash which occurred at around dusk in 1944.

19:30
We made our way down to the promenade and positioned ourselves below the impact point on the cliff, where we were later joined by Phil and Jake.

Phil had brought along a piece of the aircraft wreckage (pictured right) which was handed to Jake in order for him to attempt some Psychometry.

Jake could feel initial heat then panic, then calm but panic again in the last few minutes before impact. (note 1)

Jake was also getting the names of two aircraft manoeuvres which the aircraft had undertaken just prior to the crash, although the crew had to struggle to control the aircraft due to the damage.
Jake sensed the heat increased significantly after the crash.
(note 2)

The piece of wreckage Jake was holding didn't seem to be strongly connected to the aircraft and crew, it may have been recently taken from another plane and used as a spare part?
Jake also felt there was something about two of the crew, they didn't seem to be regulars and may have been transferred from another aircraft?

Jake was picking-up on a "matt olive green" colour and a unique smell - possibly from the engines or gunfire. (note 3)

Earlier and prior to the crash, Jake sensed, a fighter had come alongside the damaged bomber, the crew had intended to open fire on it but the gun wouldn't fire which was fortunate as it turned out to be an allied plane.
The damage to the aircraft, Jake felt, was causing it to vibrate excessively and the pilot was continually struggling to correct its course.

Jake was picking-up on the female name of "Wilma" which he thought unusual, possibly the aircraft's nickname? (note 4)

Jake was also "hearing" someone asking if one of the crew's wristwatch had been found - he sensed it had been.

Jake felt that not all the crew perished in the crash, one or two did survive and later became members of the "Caterpillar Club". (note 5)

Jake sensed they had names possibly beginning with "J". (note 6)

Claire picked-up on the name "John Caroway". (note 6)

Jake could "hear" an American/Canadian accented voice asking "Is Harry OK, it's Harry's bird", he was also picking-up on a three digit number ending with "th". (note 7)

Jake sensed that some of the crew were present, some nearby and some on the cliff-top above.
Some were in their flying gear but the three on the cliff were wearing dress uniforms, Jake felt that these three were the ones whose bodies were recovered and received proper burials.
